“Macbeth”

On Monday, 14 November 2016, William Shakespeare’s famous tragedy “Macbeth” (adapted by Clive Duncan) was performed by Vienna’s English Theatre. At 11.45 more than 100 students gathered at Stadttheater Hallein to enjoy a great show.

The story of the Scottish thane Macbeth, though 400 years old, is still relevant today. “Change blades for bullets, kings for presidents, // Swap courts for boardrooms, gold and land for oil, // Then look around – the story keeps repeating”, Banquo says in the first scene of the adapted version. Greed, betrayal, the longing for power – these are topics that will always be of interest. Our students who had read the play beforehand enjoyed a thrilling performance.
